Welcome to the department* of Haute-Savoie!
The Haute Savoie departmental orienteering committee only has five clubs and 150 full members. What we lack in numbers, we make up for in energy and passion for our sport, which is still little known in France. For instance, we have a coordinated 3-year plan for mapping. It has produced more than 60 maps; most of them for beginners in schools and tourists. We were funded by the department of Haute Savoie, the Ministry of Sports and the French Orienteering Federation (FFCO). Now the departmental orienteering committee is organising an leg of the 2010 Orienteering World Cup.
This project has been made possible thanks to the help of the town of Annecy, which is a candidate to organise the 2018 Winter Olympics, the Haute Savoie department and the Rhône-Alpes Region. Orienteers in Haute-Savoie have one aim: to bring you exciting orienteering in the Semnoz hills above Lac d'Annecy and in the heart of Annecy's Old Town. We will do our best to create a real Festival of orienteering and especially allow you to test your skills in the superb, challenging terrain of the Semnoz....
See you soon and have a good run!
